Celebrating our all-female team at Mayhew Georgia

For International Women’s Day this year, we’re celebrating the game-changing work of our all-female team at Mayhew Georgia.

The team grew in 2022 and ended the year comprised of three vets, one vet assistant and one administrator and has gone from strength to strength. In 2022 they neutered and vaccinated more than 2,000 animals. A highlight of 2022 was the opening of Mayhew Georgia’s veterinary clinic in Tbilisi, the first solely not-for-profit clinic based in the country and run entirely on donations.

“"Our team of is made up of the most hardworking and compassionate women who all want to genuinely find solutions to animal population and welfare issues in their communities. I am honoured and humbled to work with them!” ”

    Dr Ana Metskhvarishvili DVM

    Head Vet at Mayhew Georgia

Our clinic in Georgia also serves as a training centre for vets and other veterinary professionals. In 2022, seven vet professionals received training from our team out there, and more were welcomed in the first two months of 2023.

““We want to use International Women’s Day 2023 to shine a light on the work being done by a group of very special women. Their actions and leadership are making a positive impact on colleagues, animal patients and communities in Georgia. The team has been integral in helping to humanely manage the roaming dog populations in Tbilisi and in some of the regional towns and cities, making the communities healthier and happier places for the residents and animals alike.””
