We are absolutely delighted to share that Mayhew has won the top prize in the Animals & the Environment category at the Charity Awards.
Recognised for our mass canine rabies vaccination programme in Kabul, Afghanistan, we are incredibly proud to receive this prestigious recognition from the longest-running awards scheme in the charity sector.

Since 2017, the Mayhew team has vaccinated more than 132,500 dogs against rabies in Kabul, persevering through periods of great upheaval, contending with global epidemics and changes in government.
The team’s hard work and efforts has saved hundreds of thousands of dogs, as well as human lives, and helped to make the city a healthier and safer place for the community.
Alongside the vaccination activity, Mayhew also rolled out a community engagement initiative to educate residents about rabies prevention which benefited more than 18,000 children and adults.
Our Afghanistan Country Director, Dr Mo, shared: “We are truly honoured to receive this award. The achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our teams in London and Kabul. Together, we have managed to create a safer environment for animals and people. Thank you to all of our supporters and partners.”
Head of International Projects, Caroline Yates, said: I am so proud of Dr Mohammadzai and all the Afghan team that have worked so hard over the last seven to eight years and really achieved great things in the face of some serious challenges. They are truly ambassadors for a rabies-free world and so deserve this recognition of their dedication and compassion.”
We hope you will join us in celebrating this incredible achievement. After all, it wouldn’t be possible without people like you and your support for our international work. You can help us continue our life-saving work here.
