Supporters mark World Animal Day in aid of Mayhew

High-profile animal lovers, including comedian Ricky Gervais and author Jane Fallon, attended a World Animal Day event in aid of Mayhew this weekend.

The event, hosted by actor Peter Egan, included readings from our supporters Lesley Nicol and Beatie Edney, as well as a rousing performance by soprano Annette Wardell.

The evening was made possible through the support of animal welfare champion Angela Humphery, Signature at Highgate and 80-20 Georgian wines.

Over £15,000 was raised on the evening through a raffle and auction of virtual gifts to support the dogs, cats and communities that we help, including welcome packs for dogs and cats entering our care in London, the costs of running our not-for-profit veterinary clinic in Georgia for a day and contributions towards our neutering and vaccination programmes.

““Mayhew has seen a huge surge in demand for its services this year, with more dogs and cats coming through our doors than ever before. The generosity of our donors and sponsors will make such a difference to dogs and cats in need, and we are incredibly grateful to feel such support in the room.””
