Stars and supporters come out to celebrate Mayhew’s Christmas Concert

We were thrilled to host our Christmas Concert last Friday where we were delighted to see both familiar and new faces joining us for the festivities.

The evening was filled with beautiful Christmas carols, festive readings, delicious treats and an outpouring of love and support for dogs, cats and local communities. The Christmas spirit was really upon us, and it warmed our hearts to be there for the same reason.

We had some very special guests, with readings from actors and friends of Mayhew, Beatie Edney, Rula Lenska, Laura Aikman and Lesley Nichol, which made the evening even more magical. Classically trained soprano Carly Paoli delighted guests with a performance of ‘The Birthday of a King’. We are so pleased they could join us and thank them as well as choirs Starling Arts and Little Voices who helped to make the event so memorable. And of course, our incredible sponsor for the event, Bruce’s Doggy Day Care, who helped to make the evening possible.

Guests also had the opportunity to hear from Mayhew volunteer Claire Goodwin, on her vital work with her dog Roobarb on TheraPaws, our animal assisted intervention programme. Volunteer cat foster carer, Matt Littlewood, spoke to the joy and significance of the almost 10 years he has spent helping rescue cats prepare for their forever homes.

With an unprecedented increase in demand for our services this year, it really was so very special to come together and raise money and awareness for the dogs and cats who need us most. The generous and heartfelt support we received on the evening will help to allow us to continue providing love, care and shelter to animals in need.

Thank you to everyone who was part of this extraordinary evening.
