TheraPaws is an Animal Assisted Intervention programme designed to promote physical, social and emotional wellbeing.
Our volunteers take their behaviourally assessed dogs into hospitals, mental health centres, SEN schools, care homes and hospices to help improve the quality of life for those interacting with the animal. We work with people of all ages and all boroughs across London.
This is Roobarb, who works alongside her owner Claire as one of our TheraPaws volunteers. The two make weekly visits to a Dementia Care Home. Residents of the home get to interact with Roobarb, play with her, and even watch as she shows off some tricks!
Carmel, the Activities Coordinator at the home, says that Roobarb’s visits are the highlight of the week for some residents, and that seeing her always leaves a positive impact on anyone she meets.
Many thanks to the Pets At Home Foundation for sponsoring our TheraPaws programme and helping us lift spirits across London.
Roobarb is an ex-Mayhew dog and we are so proud of her wonderful journey.
