They offer unconditional love, companionship, and a sense of purpose.
They can reduce stress and help ease anxiety and depression.
We understand, value, and cherish dogs and cats, and we do all we can to keep pets and their people together.
This is why we do what we do. Because, here at Mayhew, we believe that everyone should have the chance to feel loved and valued: dogs, cats and people.

At 105-years-old, Ruth has been enjoying the benefits of TheraPaws visits at Lansdown Care Home in Cricklewood.
While the visits only recently started at the care home, Our TheraPaws volunteer, Rachel and her dog, Max have already made a big impact on Ruth’s life as well as many others.
Having had dogs of her own throughout her life, the weekly visits make a big difference to Ruth and her time at the care home. It’s truly heartening to witness the special bond between Ruth and Max, and the difference these visits make to the wellbeing of so many.
Back in May, Sandra and Roxy’s lives were turned upside down when Sandra suffered an accident. Sandra was admitted to hospital with a long recovery ahead. Being concerned for both Sandra and Roxy, Sandra’s family reached out to us for help as part of our Pet Refuge programme.
We were able to care for Roxy for eight weeks while Sandra recovered. When asked about the programme, Sandra said: “It meant the world. Your care and support have been amazing. We are more grateful than words could ever express.”
We were delighted to reunite Sandra and Roxy after their time apart.
And in the community, we work tirelessly to keep people and their pets together: with our outreach programmes, our Pet Support Hubs, our partnerships with food banks, and our Collect & Care service.
