    New Year, new Tails

We are excited to share our newly rebranded supporter magazine with you, now called ‘Tails’ to reflect the hundreds of animals and people we help each year. It features stories from our staff, volunteers, people and organisations we work together with and of course from you, our supporters.

In the first issue we take a look back at 2017 and our goals for the year ahead. We also share Ivy’s amazing recovery story, which highlights the health issues common in brachycephalic pets; a much-debated topic at the moment. The magazine will also feature our latest news, upcoming events, ‘Ask the Expert’ features and much more! Plus, we also feature Conrad Norton’s photo of his pooch Mavis on our front cover, after this photo was chosen by world-renowned photographer Rankin as the winner of our World Animal Day Photography Competition 2017.

If you would like to receive upcoming issues of ‘Tails’ magazine delivered straight to your doorstep four times a year, sign up here!

    FAQ’s

Why did you decide to rebrand your supporter magazine?

The aim of ‘Tails’ is to allow for Mayhew to become better known and understood by a broader range of people as well as to inspire more people to support us, as they become familiar with wider topics that Mayhew is part of. If we can grow our income, we can fund more work to reach and help many more vulnerable dogs, cats and their owners.

In 2017 Mayhew underwent a major rebranding programme to realign our brand strategy with our ambitious strategic growth and focus on education and preventative action and human behaviour change in animal welfare and veterinary care, working in communities in the UK and overseas. In line with this and following the consulting of our staff, volunteers and trustees and taking supporter comments on board in the process, we have updated our supporter magazine. It provides a fresh, new and modern identity that is engaging and integral with our realigned brand strategy, values and tone of voice.

Why have you increased to quarterly?

Our increase to quarterly allows us to share all of our achievements with you in a timely manner and so you won’t miss out on any upcoming events or campaigns we have going on.

Will it cost you more to produce?

The budget for our supporter magazine is very tightly managed and is well within a planned budget. We work with suppliers who generously give us discounted work and even voluntary contributors. You may also notice that we no longer have a separate Mayhew International newsletter, which has allowed for more of our printing budget to be allocated to the new magazine, which now includes updates about our International work.  Our new size allows for our text to be larger so more of our supporters are able to read our stories, and the new paper stock is still 100% recycled paper.

Our magazine is still free for our supporters to receive by signing up for it here, or you can read our paperless version here.
