I work in the Community Vet Clinic as the Head Veterinary Nurse. I only started at the end of August so it’s all still very new!
Well, life in the clinic is quite different at the moment, but my job is still to work with the vets in caring for all the medical needs of animals in the Home, and providing a preventative healthcare service for as many animals as we can. As Head Nurse, my role involves overseeing the day-to-day running and organising of the clinic, as well as a combination of other nursing tasks such as preparing animals for surgery, monitoring the anaesthetics and assisting with veterinary assessments. Every day is different and comes with new challenges, which is what I love most about my job.
My favourite thing about Mayhew is how all the different services such as the Veterinary Clinic, rehoming centre and Animal Welfare Officers all work together to provide the best care for animals and people in our community. It is nice to know we are making a genuine difference and improving welfare standards in a combination of ways.

I’m a pretty keen runner so a lot of my free time at the moment is spent trying to perfect my 5km time. I have also recently taken up wild swimming. Just anything outdoors; I love being outside.
