We are delighted to announce a new partnership between Mayhew and the Royal Veterinary College (RVC).
This exciting collaboration will enhance the health and wellbeing of vulnerable dogs and cats through the principles of Shelter Medicine – an emerging veterinary medicine field.
With a shared commitment to improving the lives of homeless and at-risk animals – whether in rehoming facilities or living on the streets – this partnership felt like a natural fit.
As part of the collaboration, the Mayhew Clinic will be able to provide even more free neutering on-site for pet owners who can otherwise not afford the veterinary care.
The RVC’s Shelter Medicine Programme that launched in 2014, provides students with the opportunity to work alongside dedicated shelter vets and gain first-hand experience of the challenges and rewards of looking after vulnerable animals and providing accessible care.
Samantha Aronson, Head of Clinic at Mayhew, shared: “We are delighted to be working with the RVC in this new partnership, helping to upskill student vets in an incredibly important area of preventative care.
“Demand for Mayhew’s preventative services has skyrocketed since the pandemic. Being able to treat both animals that come into our care and support owners who could not otherwise afford to neuter their cats and dogs is a vital step in addressing the sad overcrowding shelters are experiencing. We’re so pleased to be working with the RVC team to reach many more dogs and cats that need us.”
We look forward to closely working with the RVC and the positive impact this partnership will have on the lives of dogs, cats and communities.
We are absolutely delighted to share that Mayhew has won the top prize in the Animals & the Environment category…
