The Mayhew Animal Home rescued four young, unwanted puppies and is looking for adopters to give them their forever homes.
Aged two to three months old, four pups, two female and two male, were unfortunately bred by a breeder to be sold. When they were left unsold, they were no longer wanted so our Animal Welfare Officers rescued them and brought them into the care of our Home.
All four puppies, named Moe, Sandy, Tom and Jimmy by staff, had fleas, however were in reasonably good health. All of the pups were given a thorough health check and were wormed, de-flead, microchipped, vaccinated and neutered by our Vet Team.

The puppies have been active and curious throughout their stay at our Home. Lisa Guiney, our Dog Adoption Officer, said, “All of the pups are curious, outgoing and playful and are keen to learn. They are looking for owners who are experienced with dogs and have plenty of time to continue their training and socialisation so that they grow up to be well-behaved dogs. All of the pups need to have someone at home for most of the day.”

Sandy
The pups aren’t yet toilet trained and will need ongoing training. They can live with a well-behaved adult dog, cats or with children over six years of age who are used to dogs. Moe is a Spaniel cross and three months old, Sandy, Tom and Jimmy are all aged two months and are Terrier crosses.

Tom
Our Animal Welfare Manager, Zoe Edwards, said: “Unfortunately we see a lot of unwanted pups as they are bred purely to be sold for profit. When they are not sold, the breeders end up dumping them so luckily we were asked to take these pups into The Mayhew which we did immediately. We ask that owners think responsibly about where they get their pets from and consider adopting a rescue dog, as pups that can’t be sold for profit end up at rescue centres like ours.”
Sandy, Moe, Tom and Jimmy are all available now to adopt.
