Fearne Cotton announced as ambassador for animal welfare charity Mayhew

Mayhew is delighted to announce that long-standing supporter Fearne Cotton today becomes an official ambassador for the charity. Dedicated to animal welfare and a pet owner herself, Fearne will work alongside the charity to raise awareness of the importance of preventative veterinary care, adopting rescue animals and Mayhew’s work in the community to keep pets and people together.

Fearne first visited the animal welfare charity in Kensal Green as a teenager, going on to adopt cats Lula and Keloy from the charity a few years later, who she shared many wonderful years with. And now, Fearne and her family have welcomed kitten Frankie into their home alongside their cat, Simon.

Since first adopting from Mayhew, Fearne has been very much engaged with the charity and has visited on several occasions to keep up to date on Mayhew’s work, as well as meeting members of the team who are working every day to improve the lives of dogs and cats.

Fearne says, “I’ve known Mayhew since I was a teenager – it’s an amazing charity that’s been around for well over 100 years and I’ve always been in awe of all they do to help dogs and cats. It breaks my heart to see so many animals who desperately need homes. I know personally that adopting a rescue dog or cat is a beautiful thing, and you bring yourself a lot of joy too! I’m super excited to be an ambassador and to shout about how brilliant Mayhew is.”

Elvira Meucci-Lyons, Mayhew’s Chief Executive, says: “We couldn’t be more excited to officially welcome Fearne to the Mayhew family! Mayhew saw a huge surge in demand for our services in 2023, with record numbers of dogs and cats coming through our doors and we expect this to continue throughout 2024. Fearne’s support will help us to reach many more pets and owners with the care, support and love that Mayhew provides.

“I’m so pleased to have Fearne’s support – we are incredibly grateful for the kindness she has shown, and continues to show for dogs, cats and communities.”
