    Hercules

Hercules is an affectionate and happy chap who gets along with everyone he meets. He enjoys going for walks where he can explore and meet other dogs but can be wary of some, sometimes barking at them to begin with, so will need an owner who will be able to read his body language and provide guidance and reassurance where needed. He's not very keen on toys, preferring to snuggle up on someone's lap if he can! He is looking for a calm home with an owner or family who have owned dogs before. Hercules will make a loyal and loving companion for the right match.

    Other Notes

Hercules can live in a flat, providing there is access to a garden. He can live with dog savvy, sensible children of 12+. He could also live with a dog confident cat as well as another small to medium sized dog, preferably female, subject to a successful meet at Mayhew. Hercules arrived at Mayhew with widespread dermatitis and hyperkeratosis (thickening of the outer layer of the skin), primarily around his tail base, ears and glutes. With regular parasite control, medicated baths and a topical treatment, Hercules' condition has already greatly improved and he is no longer itching and scratching. Adopters will have to upkeep those measures until all lesions are fully healed as well as keeping Hercules under regular parasite control and see their private vets for further check ups. Hercules has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and is up to date with flea and worm treatment. He has also been health checked and behaviourally assessed.
