Teddy

Sweet Teddy is a sensitive chap who has not had the best start in life. He can be wary of some strangers, sometimes barking to begin with but is affectionate and builds strong bonds with people he knows and trusts. He is a clever boy and is doing well with his training, learning to look to his handler for guidance when worried. Despite losing one of his legs, he still enjoys a good game with his toys and loves going on adventures in quieter areas where he can sniff to his heart's content! He is social around other dogs but shows some worries around them at times so will need an owner who will be able to read his body language and give continued guidance in this area. He is looking for someone who has owned dogs before and will have the time, patience and commitment to continue with his training and socialisation. Teddy is a gem of a dog and will make a loving and loyal companion for the right person or family.

Other Notes

Teddy is looking for a calm, all adult home without visiting children. He can live in a flat with direct access to a private garden but can be vocal at times so this should be considered. Due to his nervous nature at times, Teddy is ideally looking for a rural/semi rural home. Teddy was lame on his left hind leg when he arrived at Mayhew. An x-ray revealed left hind Legg-Calve-Perthes disease. This typically shows up in small dog breeds. He had surgery to try to save his leg but unfortunately he was still unable to use it so the decision was made to amputate. Teddy has recovered quickly and shouldn't have any further concerns regarding this. Teddy has been neutered, microchipped and vaccinated and is up to date with flea and worm treatment. He has also been health checked and behaviourally assessed.
