May is Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month, a time to acknowledge veterinary nurses and the incredible impact they have on animal welfare.

At Mayhew, we know all too well how important our veterinary nurses are. From our animal Home in London, to our international work – we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without our incredible team of veterinary nurses who improve the lives of dogs and cats every single day.

From life-saving procedures, to providing much-needed comfort, care, and reassurance, their presence, hard work, experience, and skills make a huge difference.

But it’s not an easy environment to work in, especially when you are confronted with daily challenges, which makes our nurses even more special.

Our veterinary nurse team in London, shared: “Working as a veterinary nurse can be demanding and unpredictable, but we are proud of our team and how we come together to do our job regardless of any challenges we may face.

“The best part of the job is when you see firsthand that the help we offer makes a difference to the people and the animals. Knowing there’s always a kitten to cuddle when you have a bad day makes it all worth it.”

Across in Georgia, one of our veterinary nurses, Mariam shared: “I decided to become a Vet Tech because the profession allows me to combine my passion for animal care and my interest in medicine. It is rewarding to assist with treatments, support the vets and make a difference to both the animals and their owners.”

Eka, who is also a veterinary nurse at our Mayhew Georgia Clinic, shared: “I truly love my profession because it gives me the opportunity to help animals and take care of them.”
