Whishka is a very special girl who has a real plucky little character. She is ever so sweet and friendly and has a cheeky side too. She is quite keen to play and loves to snuggle in for an extra cuddle that just makes your heart melt. She likely has cerebellar hyperplasia which means she is a bit wobbly on her feet, but it doesn’t stop her and she can get about better than you'd expect and would need an extra special home where she can have lots of company as she does get lonely. She is keen to hang out with other cats too when she meets them and may well need a good cat role model to help her on her way. She could live with sensible teenagers who have had experience with cats before but any kids will need to know when to give her the time and space to chill and rest up if needed. So, if you want to make this Whishka come true, keep reading to see if you could be her purr-fect match and give her the fur-ever home she deserves…
Whishka arrived at the end of January after she was found in someone's garden. They think they saw the Mum and another sibling but that Whishka had been left behind. She has been behaviourally assessed by our cattery staff and has been given given preventative treatment in the form of microchipping, neutering, vaccinations (at least first) and flea and worming treatment by our veterinary team. She was quite unsteady on her feet and had a noticeable head shake. While we can't be 100% certain it looks as if Whishka has a congenital condition called cerebellar hypoplasia. This is something kittens can be born with if their mum gets an infection during pregnancy. Sadly it never goes away, but it also shouldn't get any worse than it is and most cats can live a happy long life and cope well with the situation. It will mean she would need to live as an indoor cat or what would be ideal would be if she had an enclosed garden as well. We will always want to maximise indoor space so she will need a large indoor home and could possibly even live with another cat friendly cat. She has also had some episodes of vomiting and diarrhoea which has been investigated but no cause found. She is ok now but may have a bit of a sensitive tummy. Like all Mayhew cats she will also go home with 4 weeks free pet insurance and will need a loving home with someone who may need to make some adjustments in the home to make sure she can get around ok and live her best life.
