Wonderful Walter is an intelligent, super loving and playful boy. He enjoys a good game with his toys and he responds very well to training, wanting to please and show off all that he knows! He is friendly and respectful around other dogs and would love a walking buddy to enjoy his adventures with. Despite his size, he is a big softy at heart, he can get a little worried at times, seeking reassurance from his person when out on walks. Walter is a very special boy with the sweetest character who is so deserving of a loving home. He will make a highly rewarding and loyal companion for the right person or family and he will be sure to repay the love he receives ten-fold!
Read moreWalter is looking for a dedicated owner who has owned dogs before and is confident in handling a strong dog who is full of love, fun and enthusiasm. His adopter will be expected to continue his training and will receive 3 free sessions with our Mayhew Animal Behaviourist. Walter can become upset and vocal when left home alone, therefore he needs a home where there will be someone around most of the time and will include him in their daily activities. He can live in a ground floor flat, providing there is access to a private, secure garden. He could potentially live with another dog depending on his adopter's experience and pending successful intros at Mayhew. Walter has moderate hip dysplasia, no signs of pain were noted before diagnosis apart from a slightly different gait. At this stage it doesn't appear pain relief is needed as we have trialled him on this and there was no significant improvement. Adopters will need to monitor his condition and take him for regular vet checks to ensure he stays in good health. Walter has been identified as potentially being an XL Bully. This breed type will be added to the banned breed list by the UK government on the 31st December 2023. His adopter will be required to obtain a certificate of exemption and follow certain measures, such as keeping him on lead and muzzled at all times when out in public and maintaining third party insurance. Walter has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and is up to date with flea and worm treatment. He has also been health checked and behaviourally assessed.
