Cheeky Champ is looking for a terrier loving home that will be able to keep his active mind entertained. He is a young boy who will need continued training and guidance to help him grown into a well rounded gentleman. Champs new adopters would benefit from a good understanding of terrier breeds, particularly Patterdales who often thrive on purpose and activity. Champ loves learning and is looking for new owners who have the time and patience to give him plenty of mental and physical outlets and opportunities to practice behaviours natural to him. His is affectionate and loves time with people but still shows lots of puppy and adolescent behaviours so will need a patient home to share their calm. Champ copes well in his world and has especially enjoyed his trips to the park so would love someone with easy access to places he can explore and build skills slowly. He quickly steals the heart of anyone he meets and will make a wonderful companion for anyone ready for a rewarding journey.
Read moreChamp can live in a ground floor flat as long as there is direct access to a private garden. He can live with dog savvy, older teenagers of 16+ that will give him space when needed and help with his training. His new owner will be expected to continue his training and socialisation and will need to book sessions with a local, qualified, reward based trainer. Champ could live with another calm, adult dog subject to a successful meet at Mayhew. Champ was found to have previous pelvic fractures after coming in to us which were already healing well so did not require surgery. Champ now has an unusual gait but after a pain medication trial, it is believed he is comfortable and is not in need of meds at this time. Due to these fractures, Champ may be more at risk of developing osteoarthritis later in life and may need medical management at any time. Champ also has enamel hypoplasia on some teeth which means thinning or deficiency of the enamel layer. New adopters will need to be extra vigilant to dental hygiene. Champ has been microchipped, neutered, will have received his first vaccination and is up to date with flea & worming treatment. He has also been health checked and behaviourally assessed. Lastly, every dog adopted from us will go home with 4 weeks free pet insurance.
