Roo is a very special girl who has had a hard start to life and despite it all she keeps bouncing along and tackling the world one paw at a time. This fluffy lady is very sweet and friendly and loves to play in her own unique way. She enjoys her fuss and when she knows you will snuggle in for some extra cuddles. She is a gentle soul but is not shy in letting you know if she doesn’t like something but then she has had to grow up quickly on account of her health (see below). This little lady may be small but has a mighty character ready to fill your world with lots of fun and her awesome rumbling purr. She would be better suited to live in a grown-up home, where she can find her feet and have as much indoor space as she can get. So, if you want to be part of the Miaow-vel Roo-niverse, keep reading to see if you could be her purr-fect match and give her the fur-ever home she deserves…
Roo arrived at The Mayhew in mid December after being found with her other siblings in a box. She has been behaviourally assessed by our cattery staff and has also been given given preventative treatment in the form of microchipping, neutering, vaccinations (at least first) and flea and worming treatment by our veterinary team. Roo has been in the wars a bit since arriving and we have been making sure to keep on top of some dirty ears that need cleaning and some crusty skin that she gets around her mouth and face. We simply keep this clean and think its down to an over production of skin flakes or oil in the skin. It's getting better and hopefully things improve as she gets older. She has also suffered from some seizures which have generally consisted of her initially crying out and her head beginning to shake and no longer being aware of her surroundings. Afterwards she would salivate for a bit then return to normal. At first they were more frequent but have not been noticed as often so we are hopeful that this will pass or remain in-frequent as she gets older. We have found no underlying cause and she could have been born with this issue or it could be caused by her poor start in life as she was very flat compared to her siblings when she was brought into us. Because there is the chance she could have more fits in the future we feel it wise for her to be an indoor only cat in case she had an episode outside and was to hurt herself and you must also consider the fact she may need additional care or meds in her future. She is a happy little soul otherwise and would welcome the chance to live a full life with someone extra special and willing to give Roo the best possible home where she can live life to the max. Like all Mayhew cats she will also go home with 4 weeks free pet insurance.
