Katya is a charming cat, whose fur was white as snow and everywhere that Katya went her purr was sure to go. Hopefully we haven't got the paraphrased nursery rhyme stuck in your head, or maybe that was part of our dastardly plan so people don't keep overlooking Katya anymore. This gorgeous girl is a sweet, loving soul who is affectionate and sociable and will rub around your legs, and loves to give some head nudges. She just needs to get to know you and build some trust before she can show her true, sweet self. She is happy to do her own thing and would prefer a grown-up place to call home. She has her boundaries and needs a home who can admire her in all her glory and give the fuss she wants, when she wants. So, if Katya is a class apart, keep reading to see if you could be her purr-fect match and give her the fur-ever home she deserves...
Katya arrived at Mayhew at the start of February along with two of her kittens after her owner was emigrating and couldn't take them with her. She has been behaviourally assessed by our cattery staff and given any medical treatment required by our veterinary team. All cats leave our care microchipped, neutered and have been given flea and worming treatment as well as any vaccinations (at least first). Lastly, every cat adopted from us will also go home with 4 weeks free pet insurance. Katya has a blocked tear duct which means she does have a bit of a watery eye on the go from time to time. This just needs to be kept clean so it doesn't cause irritation or get any worse. We have also seen some evidence to show she is a carrier of cat flu which means she could get the odd flare up cat flu symptoms from time to time, but we haven't seen any issues so far. For now she just needs monitoring and someone to give her a happy home where she can feel safe and secure once more.
Katya is a sweet, affectionate girl who enjoys a little a bit of TLC, but usually on her terms. She will come and rub against my legs when she wants to be fussed. She will tolerate being picked up some of the time, but obviously isn't too keen. She can be a little bit jumpy and easily spooked by sudden noises and movements, but soon gets over it. She loves to chase a piece of string or shoelace and is showing some interest in the stack of balls toy, although I had to show her how to use it. She loves to be scratched on her head or between her shoulder blades before going back to bed to sleep the day away. She is a real sweetheart and will no doubt be an asset to any loving home.
