Neytiri arrived at Mayhew at the beginning of April after being found as a stray. She has been behaviourally assessed by our cattery staff and given any medical treatment required by our veterinary team. All cats leave our care microchipped, neutered and have been given flea and worming treatment as well as any vaccinations (at least first). Lastly, every cat adopted from us will also go home with 4 weeks free pet insurance. While in our care, Neytiri tested positive for Cryptosporidium, which causes diarrhoea. She has recovered well after treatment but some cats can continue to shed small amounts of the microorganisms in their faeces, and good hygiene is recommended to manage this. There is a low risk of transmission of this illness to healthy adults. Occasionally humans with weakened immune systems can be at more risk. Neytiri could possibly live with other animals which are in good health and at a lower risk of picking up this illness but as in humans very young or elderly animals, or animals with weakened immune systems may be more susceptible to picking things up.
