Pawsome Support for Hounds on the Heath

Hundreds of dog owners and their four legged friends turned up to support The Mayhew Animal Home’s annual family and dog summer event, Hounds on the Heath, last weekend.

It was a star studded affair with Kiss FM presenter Pandora Christie, TV vet Marc Abraham, model and former Love Island star Cally Jane Beech, actress Beatie Edney and her dog Billie, model Kirstie Brittain, Lucy The Rescue Cavalier, and Kerry McCarthy MP with her niece Maisie all helping to judge our dog show.

People came in their droves to enter their pets in seven categories throughout the day, including Sweetest Staffie, Best Veteran, Dead Ringers and Best Looking Boy.

The event at Hampstead Heath was compered by loyal Mayhew supporter, Angela Songui, who kept the crowd entertained all day.

We also had live streaming of our event on our Facebook page, provided by Through The I. It meant that supporters – who couldn’t attend – still got the chance to watch what was happening on the screen. If you missed it you can still catch up with our Facebook page play back video of the day.

Throughout the day there was plenty of entertainment with an agility course provided by Friendly Creatures, a meet and greet with dog behaviourist expert Kevin McNicholas, scrumptious vegan food, and games and activities including Temptation Alley.

Caroline Yates, Chief Executive Officer, The Mayhew Animal Home, says; “The turnout was fantastic. At one point we had around 40 different entries for our Best Looking Boy dog show category. It was great to see so many people with dogs of all different shapes and sizes.”

“We can’t thank people enough for turning up to support us and our celebrity judges for helping us raise awareness of the vital work we do. Events like this mean we can let more people know about the work we do both in the UK and internationally and our animals in need.”

Zoe Sheehan, Events Officer, The Mayhew Animal Home, adds; “A massive thank you to everyone who attended and helped support The Mayhew, including staff, volunteers and celebrities. Everyone worked so hard and it was great to see so many people with their pets enjoying themselves.”
