    Mayhew celebrates Volunteers’ Week

This week marks Volunteers Week, and we’re taking the opportunity to shout about the amazing people that give up their time to help dogs, cats and communities.

As we look back on the year June 2023 – June 2024, we want to say THANK YOU to our incredible team of volunteers. With the help from our volunteers, Mayhew has furthered its reach and has been able to help so many more dogs, cats and members of our community. Whether they’re introducing people to Mayhew at events, providing individual care and enrichment for a dog or cat in our Home or supporting members of our communities who need support, we could not do what we do without them. We’ve welcomed more than 80 new volunteers in the past year, all of whom will make a vital difference to dogs and cats that need them.

“In the past year, our wonderful dog foster carers have dedicated 32,736 hours to looking after dogs that are either still in their care or have since been adopted into loving homes.  I want to take this opportunity, on behalf of the kennels team and all of our dogs, to say a huge thank you.  Your time, effort and care is highly valued and appreciated and makes such a big difference to the dog’s lives, both before and after adoption.  You are all amazing people! ”

    Chloe Watkinson

Dog Adoption Officer and Foster Co-ordinator

“Our wonderful reception volunteers have contributed greatly to our mission this year, by being the first point of contact for concerned and sometimes distressed members of the public. They have ensured we have done everything we can to support cats and dogs both locally, as well as outside of our catchment area. Their endeavours to help everyone irrespective of what borough they reside in have been heart-warming and inspiring! ”

    Shani Shillingford
