Bubbly Bessie is a friendly, enthusiastic and joyous girl who puts a smile on the face of everyone she meets! She loves her walks and enjoys socialising with other dogs and will take herself away if they are too full on with her. She is playful with her toys but is generally more keen on getting affection from her people. She also loves her food, a little too much, but she has been successful in her weight loss plan and is now almost at her target weight. She enjoys her comforts and would love a home where she'll be able to snuggle up with her owner on the sofa or in her soft, fluffy bed next to it! This sweetheart will make her lucky new person a fun, affectionate and loyal companion.
Read moreBessie is looking for a home where there will be someone around most of the time, building up her time left alone in stages. She can live with dog savvy children as long as they won't be intimidated by her excitable nature at times. She could also potentially live with a well adjusted dog of a calm disposition, subject to a successful meet at Mayhew. Bessie has a very mild level of osteoarthritis. Whilst at Mayhew she has had a dental to remove parts of her gums that had overgrown. Bessie has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and is up to date with flea and worm treatment. She has also been health checked and behaviourally assessed.
I can’t say enough what an incredible dog Bessie is and how lucky someone will be to have her. Bessie is such a gentle bear, and a beautiful soul. She loves going out on walks and adventures, unless it’s really pouring in which case she will lay down and refuse to leave the house, opting to instead curl up on the sofa and nap. She loves her food, meeting other dogs and people, and is fantastic with kids. Her absolute favourite thing is getting her back scratched. Our dog Eric was initially quite hostile towards her, guarding the sofa and snapping at her in the first week and her behaviour has always been exemplary, she has never fought back, and always just showed her bum or wandered off. We had been told she was the mother hen of the shelter, helping other dogs to calm down when needed and they weren’t wrong. She adjusted to our routine and our home instantly, learnt quickly she wasn’t allowed upstairs and was happy to be tucked up in her bed in the kitchen at night. Bessie seems to take everything in her stride, she’s using stairs well and goes on the overground with us with no problems. She’s very quiet around the house and generally very obedient. We really can’t believe our first foster dog has been such a delight.
