Gizmo is a sweet sensitive soul who just needs some time to settle down. She can be a bit shy and would really appreciate a quiet home where she can have the space if she needs it and make her way out to you in her own time. She's a gentle girl and deserves some extra love and a warm cosy place where she can cat-nap until her hearts content. In Foster she enjoys head scratches and will roll on her side and purr whilst making air biscuits, so she really has a sweet side when she's given some love and care. Gizmo would settle down best in a home with older children, and after she gets to know you, will make a gorgeous little companion. If you could offer our lovely girl Gizmo a fur-ever home please keep on reading.....
Gizmo arrived at Mayhew after her elderly owner was no longer able to cope with keeping her. She has been behaviourally assessed by our cattery staff and given any medical treatment required by our veterinary team. All cats leave our care microchipped, neutered and have been given flea and worming treatment as well as any vaccinations (at least first). Lastly, every cat adopted from us will also go home with 4 weeks free pet insurance. Gizmo came in with another cat who she was fighting with in the home so she will have to be the only animal in the home when she is adopted.
In just a week, Gizmo blossomed from the bewildered and shy girl who first hid away in a cat den, into a purring and playful puss. Growing in confidence every day, she shares the sofa with me and will regularly climb on me to sleep when I’m watching TV. At night she prefers to sleep on the sofa or armchair. She is gentle and loving, and has always enjoyed strokes and head rubs, wiggling herself into position so I get just the right spot. Gizmo is content to be on her own but will often follow me around, especially if she wants a game. She’ll amuse herself batting toy mice and foil balls around. She also loves to dash through the cat tunnels and jump over them as she ‘hunts’ the end of a teaser toy or bit of string. She has a delightful squeaky meow which she also uses to say hello and to let me know she wants head rubs or me to play. She will sometimes knead a fleecy blanket, me or even the air, purring all the while. Gizmo is a real poppet, and a delight to have around.
