Big Simba or Timber to his mates is a hunky, chunky boy looking to find some love once again. He is a friendly soul who likes to say hello and enjoys a good chinwag. He loves a few head bups or cheek rubs, and is keen to rub against your legs to seek a bit of fuss. This clever chap loves to experiment, and loves to keep active with lots of playing and can be very silly when he's in the mood. He is carrying a bit of weight and is eating a special diet for some past urinary issues (see below) and would need a chilled out home where he can relax, as well as explore the world outside as he is an adventurous soul. So, if you like your Simba's BIG, keep reading to see if you could be his purr-fect match and give him the fur-ever home he deserves...
Simba arrived at Mayhew in the middle of March after his owners could no longer keep him in the long term due to a new baby in the home. He has been behaviourally assessed by our cattery staff and given any medical treatment required by our veterinary team. All cats leave our care microchipped, neutered and have been given flea and worming treatment as well as any vaccinations (at least first). Lastly, every cat adopted from us will also go home with 4 weeks free pet insurance. Simba currently requires a special urinary diet as he has had a blockage in the past that needed surgery. He had one other flare up several months later that just needed some additional medication and has had no other issues in the last 6months. It's important he lives in a stress free home and he will need to lose some weight as well. This should all help him in the future and you should monitor for any issues and seek help if you see any urinary problems going forward. He can also nip if he gets overexcited too so it's all about reading the signals and giving Simba the chance to do his thing and not reach a point where he feels compelled to have a nibble. He could live in a home with teenagers with prior cat experience who are comfortable reading his signals.
Simba, despite his size, really has energetic, playful times each day, whether it’s playing with his humans or by himself. It’s adorable to hear this little furry horse galloping up & down the hallway. He will investigate little flies or spiders and any reflections caused by the sun. He likes to say hello when anyone comes in the front door and enjoys spending time with the humans (sitting next to us on the sofa), but equally likes his alone time for a nap in another room. Very curious with tasks such as cleaning or unpacking the shopping. Whilst he might be on the larger side, he doesn’t have a huge appetite, but does like the occasional treat. He prefers to set boundaries, and may give a little nip or swipe. We think this adorable boy would blossom even more if he had a garden to explore!
