Opening your heart to a rescue dog can not only change their life, but yours too.
Fostering is a wonderful way to welcome a dog into your life, while also receiving ongoing support from a team of expert animal carers, as well as financial support for their care.
While fostering a dog can be an incredibly rewarding experience, it also involves a lot of commitment and patience. An open heart is a good place to start, but there are a few other things needed to help ensure you and your foster dog are a paw-fect match. To get started, read through the checklist below.
Foster dog checklistIf you’re ready to open your heart and home to a dog through foster care, here are the next steps:
1. Submit an application form here. It’s best to give yourself at least fifteen minutes so you have enough time to fill in all the required fields. This helps us get to know you and your reasons for wanting to foster.
2. Once you’ve applied, our team will be in touch if you’re a good fit to be a Mayhew foster carer.
3. If everyone is happy, we will then request two references & arrange a home visit to ensure your home is safe and secure for a foster dog.
4. Once you’ve finished these steps, it will then be time to start fostering! Our team might have a dog for you straight away, or they will be in touch when there is a dog that might need your help.
5. Enjoy the rewarding experience of fostering and knowing that you’re helping to change a life in need.
