Simba is a lean mean cat kneading machine looking for the most paw-some home. This gorgeous boy loves being around people and will greet you excitedly, before showing you his biscuit making skills. He loves a good bit of fuss and will curl up on the laps of his chosen people. He also loves a dangly toy which always makes for a good play session. This heir to the throne could live with children who can match his energy and give him all the fuss he deserves, whilst also giving him the time and space to do his own thing. Simba has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) so will need a large indoor home or one with a fully enclosed garden so he can make the best of any limited space and be happy with his home environment. So, if you think you can give this handsome boy the keys to the kingdom, keep reading to see if you could be his purr-fect match and give him the fur-ever home he deserves...
Simba arrived at Mayhew at the end of September after he was found living as a stray. He has been behaviourally assessed by our cattery staff and given any medical treatment required by our veterinary team. All cats leave our care microchipped, neutered and have been given flea and worming treatment as well as any vaccinations (at least first). Lastly, every cat adopted from us will also go home with 4 weeks free pet insurance. Simba has been diagnosed with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This means he has a weaker immune system and so proactive care is always recommended. The virus progresses very slowly, and when kept healthy many FIV cats never progress to the terminal stage of the disease (Feline AIDs). Cats with FIV often lead normal, healthy lives, and we advise that they either have a large indoor home or a fully enclosed garden to be able to live their best lives. Our team have also noted small amounts of brown fluid on Simba's bedding/blankets. We are unable to find any notable concerns, nor obvious source of leaking. It is suspected that the fluid is coming from his anal glands, which can produce a scent-marking fluid that can sometimes be released naturally or if the glands become mildly overfilled. Adopters should be aware that occasional mild leakage may continue from time to time, and veterinary attention is advised if there is persistent licking under the tail, scooting, swelling, redness, or a strong odour, as these may indicate impaction or infection. With any FIV cat regular monitoring and or health checks are recommended. He also had some very mild gingivitis and some scabs on his neck but these are all fine and need no intervention.
Simba (Indoor or Enclosed Garden) has been reserved. Please take a look at our other animals looking for homes.
