The neutering procedure offers a humane and permanent solution to unwanted litters and also reduces the risk of your pet developing certain cancers and other diseases. Your pet will also be less likely to develop unwanted behaviours such as roaming, spraying and fighting with other animals.
It is a simple, quick and low-risk procedure - most animals will be in and out of the clinic within one day. We recommend neutering cats at four months of age. We can neuter dogs in our clinic from four months of age (prepubertal). We will always make an individual assessment of each animal before each procedure.
Mayhew’s community vet clinic provides free preventative veterinary interventions for pet owners who cannot otherwise afford it living within one of five London boroughs – Ealing, Brent, Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster. To receive our Veterinary Interventions, you must self-declare that you meet our eligibility criteria, be legally responsible for the animal and are over 18 years of age.
We also offer a Collect & Care scheme for eligible pet owners. Our team will collect cats and dogs, and bring them to our clinic for neutering and return them. Find out more about this scheme.
We are delighted to have achieved accreditation under the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Practice Standards Scheme. In order to achieve this we have undergone a rigorous assessment by an inspector from the RCVS to ensure that we are providing a high standard of care for our patients and clients.
We are pleased to announce that our community vet clinic has become the host practice for 4th year veterinary students at the University of Surrey School of Veterinary Medicine to receive their surgical training. Students are participating in twice-weekly neutering clinics and performing procedures under the close supervision of surgical and anaesthesia specialists from the university, helping them build vital skills to prepare them for their veterinary careers. Look out for them on Tuesdays and Wednesdays if you are bringing your pet into the clinic! We're very grateful for the generosity of our Mayhew donors who contributed to our on-site training suites.
