    Frequently Asked Questions

When / where is the event?

Open Day will run from 11am-4pm and take place at Mayhew, with stalls and activities along the street outside of the home. The street will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the event.

    Our address is:
    Trenmar Gardens
    Kensal Green
    NW10 6BJ

Why is Open Day in September this year?

Our annual Open Day was delayed this year due to our Kennels being refurbished. Click here for more information on the refurbishment.

How do I get there on public transport?

The nearest stations are Kensal Green (4 min walk) and Willesden Junction (11 min walk). You can get the Bakerloo line and the Overground to and from both of these stations. Buses: 18, 187, 220 all have stops within a 5 min walk.

Will there be any nearby parking available?

There will be no reserved parking. We strongly advise taking public transport as parking in the surrounding streets is limited.

Is the event accessible for disabled people?

The home is accessible by wheelchair and there are bathroom facilities situated in the reception area. There is also one disabled parking bay on Trenmar Gardens just before the entrance to the street party. If you have any queries please contact us directly events@mayhewanimalhome.org

Do I have to buy a ticket in advance?

No - tickets are purchased on the day and will cost £3 for an adult and £2 for children and concessions.

Is there an ATM on site/nearby?

There is a free ATM at the local Co-op one minute’s walk from Mayhew on Harrow Road.

Can I pay by cash or card?

Most stalls will operate on a cash-only basis, however a select number of Mayhew stalls will be able to accept card.

Why do you only serve veggie/vegan food?

Mayhew is aware that a proportion of our supporters will have strong opinions about animal welfare issues and ethics, including the consumption of animal products or agricultural practices surrounding the production of meat and or dairy products. This means that a number of our supporters will follow vegetarian or vegan diets. Out of respect for their beliefs and in the interest of inclusion, Mayhew has a policy of only using vegetarian and vegan catering at our events.

Will there be alcohol on site?

There will be a bar in the garden where you will be able to purchase alcohol. You are not permitted to bring your own alcohol into the event.

    Can I bring my dog?

All dogs are welcome, although there will be certain areas of the home where they won’t be permitted. If your dog becomes distressed around large crowds or other animals we would not advise bringing them to this event.

Can I adopt an animal at Open Day?

Mayhew has a rigorous adoption process to ensure that every animal finds the most suitable forever home; as such it would not be possible to complete an adoption in a single day. If you would like to know more about the adoption process, please visit the mayhew.org/rehome or call 020 8962 8000.

Can I meet / play with / walk any animals at Open Day?

There will be the opportunity to walk through our Cattery and see the cats we have up for adoption. Also, throughout various points of the day you will be able to watch our kittens playing in the kitten garden and meet some of our Therapaws dogs. Due to the volume of people attending the event and the nervous nature of some of the animals in our care, we are sorry to say that entering the kennels and cat cabins is not permitted.
