Sweet Poppy is a gentle soul with a sensitive nature. She can be shy when meeting new people but with time and a calm approach, enjoys affection from her trusted people. She likes to go on sniffy adventures, taking her time to check out her environment. She is happy to greet other dogs but can be worried by some so will need an owner that will provide her with support and guidance at times. She arrived at Mayhew with another pug, named Violet and could be rehomed with her but this is not essential. Poppy is looking for a calm and quiet home with an understanding person or family that will advocate for her and allow her to flourish at her own pace. She will make the perfect little companion for the right adopter.

Other Notes

Poppy can live in a flat as long as there is direct access to a private garden. She can live with dog savvy, older teenagers of 16+ providing they will give her space when needed. She could live with a calm, well adjusted dog, subject to a successful meet at Mayhew. As mentioned in the write up, she could be rehomed with her fellow Mayhew resident Violet but this is not essential. Poppy is a brachycephalic breed type, her adopter will need to be knowledgeable about brachy care and have researched her breed. They will need to take care with excessive exercise and hot weather, maintain her weight and ensure her skin folds are kept clean. Poppy has had a dental with extractions whilst with us. Poppy has been microchipped, neutered and vaccinated and is up to date with flea and worming treatment. She has also been health checked and behaviourally assessed. Lastly, every dog adopted from us will go home with 4 weeks free pet insurance.
