Beautiful Penny hasn't had the best start in life. She was found abandoned in a woods, tied to a tree with her legs bound. She also had a swollen, blind eye which required removal to ensure she was comfortable. She's a sensitive girl who's noise sensitive and can be nervous in new situations. However, it doesn't take long for her to gain confidence and become the bouncy girl she truly is. She's an active dog who gets bored easily and will therefore need experienced owners who have a good understanding of hound types and their typical characteristics. She would excel in Mantrailing or similar scent activities. She's also super affectionate and always enjoys cuddling up on the sofa with people.

Other Notes

Penny is an active dog who is looking for an equally active owner who is up for doing lots of training with her and will keep her both physically and mentally stimulated. She doesn't cope well with being left alone so she will need a multi-carer household where there is always someone at home with her and will slowly build up the time she is left home alone. She can live with children from sixteen years of age and upwards. Penny has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and is up to date with flea & worm treatment. She has also been health checked and behaviourally assessed.

Foster Carer Comments

Penny loves people. Given how she was found it is surprising she trusts people at all. But she bonds quickly and loves curling up on the sofa with her head in your lap. Sometimes she gets overexcited in play and gets boisterous so needs someone able to distract her and set some boundaries. Sadly, Penny can get very frightened and overwhelmed in some situations. She's scared of sudden noises and will try to run from them. She is very timid when approached by larger dogs. She'll tend to avoid them if she can. With smaller dogs she's usually very curious and keen to say hello, tail wagging high behind her. Her confidence has grown while she's been with us day by day. The stability and calm I think makes quite a difference. She's responded extremely well to training. Penny will really enjoy the engagement of a permanent home where I'm sure she'll be the centre of attention.
