Magnificent Matty is a sweet natured and gentle boy. He arrived at Mayhew in poor condition; he was heavily matted, had infected ears and poor oral health. Despite the neglect he has faced in the past, Matty is very friendly and affectionate with people and loves to snuggle in close for love and attention. He is also good with other dogs. Matty's loves in life are long walks, car journeys and snuggling up on the sofa with his person!

Other Notes

Matty arrived in our care requiring extensive dental treatment which has now been carried out. He also had chronic infections in both of his ear canals. He is uncomfortable with having ear drops put into his ears but hopefully with time, patience and positive association training he will feel comfortable with this. We have kept Matty on every other day steroid medication but if his adopter is able to keep his ears clean with a topical ear cleaner then hopefully he may be able to come off the steroids in the future. Matty can live with sensible children from twelve years of age and upwards providing they have experience or have lived with dogs in the past. He could possibly live with a female dog depending on how introductions go at Mayhew. Matty has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and is up to date with flea and worm treatment. He has also been health checked and behaviourally assessed.
