On Hold

Snowy

Snowy arrived at Mayhew after she was found outside, she was heavily pregnant and had a big litter of kittens. She has settled in well to life in her foster home and is waiting to find a loving new home of her own. She may be small but she can pack a punch and Snowy knows what she wants. She is an energetic soul who can play bite if overexcited or if the food is served too slowly. Despite her lively nature she enjoys her head rubs and a tummy tickle and will purr quite happily. She loves to play and likes to hide in boxes and perch up high. She is quite the Huntress so wildlife beware Snowy is coming. In light of her previous lifestyle and current temperament she would be best suited to live in an all adult home due to the fact she can be quite lively and play bite on occasion. She will also appreciate a home with people who have had some previous cat care experience and will keep her entertained with lots of games and have a fun outside space to explore. She will enjoy a garden too and must have a cat flap fitted so she can be free to explore her own patch on her own terms. Snowy has had some soft motions which are ok now and were just treated with meds and a special food diet.

Other Notes

All Mayhew cats have been neutered, microchipped and will have started a vaccination course. They will have been medically assessed and treated for any issues during their stay with us and all this information will be passed on to new adopters. We recommend pet insurance for all animals and you are given 4 weeks free to go home with as part of the adoption. Any medical care outside of routine procedures will result in exclusions on a new insurance policy so speak with your preferred insurance provider for more information. The adoption fee (£80) is non-refundable so make sure you can commit to care for a cat for life. This can be 5-20 years depending on the cats age. You should consider your own health, age and housing status as well as your experience before you apply to adopt for an individual animal. At present we are unable to respond to applications that have not been successful due to staff time constraints and logistics around dealing with higher volumes of applications during the current Pandemic. Many Cats will not be listed as being able to live with very young children or other animals (cats or dogs in particular). This is due to the fact we are currently unable for you and your family to meet the animals and for us to adequately assess your current animal and how it might behave with another new cat in the home. Normally we can see the interactions between children and adults alike with a specific cat and know if it is a good fit all around. Under current restrictions this is not appropriate and as such means we have to be cautious in how we approach adoptions. Likewise, under normal circumstances we would be able to introduce your dog to a suitable animal or visit your cat in its home environment and ask more questions about how a new animal will fit in. This is also not possible so unless we have specific history we will not take the risk at this time. Our cats are all behaviourally assessed by our experienced staff and we always act in the cat’s best interest. Our job is to find a cat its forever home and as such some people will be disappointed by decisions we make but our reasons are sound and based on past knowledge of the cat, current temperament and the wider circumstances we find ourselves in. If you are unsuccessful please apply for another cat in the future or you can let us know that you have applied already and we can find your most recent application form. To help your application please give us information on how you would be best suited for the individual cat you have applied for based on its rehoming criteria.

Foster Carer Comments

Sweet Snowy is a small, lively and affectionate lady. She has revealed herself to be a funny, energetic and talkative young cat. She loves to run and play, and would benefit from outdoor space so she can roam and investigate. She is a very good hunter, and even catches flies! Like many cats, she enjoys the ability to perch, and likes to watch the world (and birds) go by outside the window. She is not the cuddliest cat and is has too much energy to be a lap cat yet, however, she purrs easily, and loves to have her head and tummy stroked. Perhaps one of the most surprising things about this tiny cat is her enormous appetite! She eats voraciously, and as she is always eager for her food, will not hesitate to “ask” for it.
