Pedro is a chatty little boy who likes his fuss and having a lap to sit on. He loves you even more if you serve him up his dinner each day and he is also partial to the odd dreamie. This loveable little guy just wants to hang out and is quite vocal when he gets going. He has the most adorable little squeak that tugs at the heart strings and then he has you under the paw. He could probably live with confident teenagers who are familiar with cats as he is more of a cuddle bug than a playful chap so will need someone sensitive to his needs. Everyone should know a Pedro and this could be your chance. So, keep reading to see if you could be his purr-fect match and give this handsome chap the fur-ever home he deserves…
Pedro arrived at Mayhew at the end of July after his owner was no longer able to care for him. He has been behaviourally assessed and given preventative treatment at Mayhew in the form of microchipping, neutering, vaccinations and flea and worming treatment. We noticed that he had quite a lot of fur missing around his back legs and the base of his tail. This was consistent with him suffering from Flea Allergic Dermatitis (FAD). This is a reaction to flea bites and usually can be controlled with regular flea treatment which you should maintain in his new home. In Pedro's case he needed something a little stronger and is currently on steroid treatment which has helped massively. In consultation with your own vet the plan should be to taper down this medication so he has it less often and hopefully not need it to use it at all. He is currently having a 2.5mg Prednisolone tablet every other day which he eats well in his food or a meat stick. Now all he needs is the happy home to go with it as cats like Pedro will often be overlooked.
