Bubba arrived after he was found as a stray. He has been settling in well to his current life at Mayhew and is now looking to find a loving new home of his own. Bubba was a bit shy at first but has been growing in confidence. He was a bit scruffy and matted on arrival and will need regular grooming to keep him looking tip top. He’s been tidied up since so is rocking the best lockdown haircut he can. He is a boy who knows what he wants and enjoys short fuss sessions which is the same as his grooming routine at present. He enjoys some company and rubs around your legs for attantion but is more interested in some grub and is quite chatty so will let you know when it’s food o’clock. In light of his previous lifestyle and current temperament he would be best suited to live in an all adult home due to his response to strangers and his outdoorsy life so far. He will also appreciate a home with people who have had some previous adult cat care experience and will give him time to settle in and be lord of the manor. He would welcome his own garden and must have a cat flap fitted so he is free to explore his own patch on his own terms. Bubba had some dirty ears which will need to be monitored in the home but for now they are clean and he is a happy chappy.

Other Notes

All Mayhew cats have been neutered, microchipped and will have started a vaccination course. They will have been medically assessed and treated for any issues during their stay with us and all this information will be passed on to new adopters. We recommend pet insurance for all animals and you are given 4 weeks free to go home with as part of the adoption. Any medical care outside of routine procedures will result in exclusions on a new insurance policy so speak with your preferred insurance provider for more information. The adoption fee (£80) is non-refundable so make sure you can commit to care for a cat for life. This can be 5-20 years depending on the cats age. You should consider your own health, age and housing status as well as your experience before you apply to adopt for an individual animal. At present we are unable to respond to applications that have not been successful due to staff time constraints and logistics around dealing with higher volumes of applications during the current Pandemic. Many Cats will not be listed as being able to live with very young children or other animals (cats or dogs in particular). This is due to the fact we are currently unable for you and your family to meet the animals and for us to adequately assess your current animal and how it might behave with another new cat in the home. Normally we can see the interactions between children and adults alike with a specific cat and know if it is a good fit all around. Under current restrictions this is not appropriate and as such means we have to be cautious in how we approach adoptions. Likewise, under normal circumstances we would be able to introduce your dog to a suitable animal or visit your cat in its home environment and ask more questions about how a new animal will fit in. This is also not possible so unless we have specific history we will not take the risk at this time. Our cats are all behaviourally assessed by our experienced staff and we always act in the cat’s best interest. Our job is to find a cat its forever home and as such some people will be disappointed by decisions we make but our reasons are sound and based on past knowledge of the cat, current temperament and the wider circumstances we find ourselves in. If you are unsuccessful please apply for another cat in the future or you can let us know that you have applied already and we can find your most recent application form. To help your application please give us information on how you would be best suited for the individual cat you have applied for based on its rehoming criteria.
