Community projects
The Mayhew strives to tackle the companion animal welfare crisis from every possible angle. We are proactive and innovative, working to help animals and their carers whatever their circumstances.
The Mayhew recognises that animal welfare issues and social welfare issues are intrinsically linked and taking our preventative initiatives out into the community means there is there is a better chance that we can prevent cases of ignorance and neglect escalating into abandonment and cruelty.
Alongside our re-homing services, The Mayhew has a team of Animal Welfare Officers that respond to animal welfare issues out in the wider community and provide a range of Community Animal Care initiative, including a Trap, Neuter, Release programme for our capital’s feral cats, cross collaboration with other government and non-goverment agencies working to address the irresponsible ownership, misuse and mistreatment of companion animals, support and advice to carers pet owners in difficulties and various educational projects for both adults and children.
